Historic Move from Pasifik Eurasia! First Export Block Train Departs from Izmir to Shanghai
As one of Türkiye’s leading companies in international railway transportation, Pasifik Eurasia has achieved another milestone in logistics and foreign trade. The first export block train from Izmir to China departed from Izmir Biçerova Station on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, heading towards Shanghai. Consisting of a total of 50 forty-foot containers, the train will carry products from Türkiye’s largest white goods manufacturers to Shanghai, one of China’s key commercial hubs.
The Aegean Region is connected to Asia by rail for the first time
This strategic step, which directly links the production power of the Aegean Region to the Chinese market, opens a new chapter in Türkiye–China trade relations. As a significant development strengthening the role of railway transportation in exports, these shipments enable not only the Marmara Region but also the Aegean Region to be directly integrated into the Asian market via rail. This development, which increases regional diversity in Türkiye’s export logistics, provides significant advantages in transportation time and cost, while also supporting a more secure logistics infrastructure.
The launch of this first export block train service on the Izmir–Shanghai route strengthens Türkiye’s position within the Belt and Road Initiative while also supporting the emergence of railway transportation as a sustainable, fast, and reliable alternative. At a time when global trade is increasingly shaped by logistics routes and corridors, this new line stands out as a strategic step that enhances Türkiye’s effectiveness on the Middle Corridor.
“This route lays the foundation for a permanent logistics corridor”
Erol Erkan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Pasifik Eurasia, stated that this historic service launched on the Izmir–Shanghai route is only the beginning and said:
“This first service we launched on the Izmir–Shanghai route lays the foundation for a permanent logistics corridor that will deliver Türkiye’s production power to Asia’s largest markets seamlessly and competitively. Our goal is to make these services regular and sustainable, creating a strong alternative that provides speed, reliability, and cost advantages for exporters across Türkiye, especially in the Aegean Region. As Pasifik Eurasia, we will continue our investments and pioneering projects with determination, in line with our vision of positioning Türkiye at the center of the Eurasian logistics network.”
Pasifik Eurasia has previously drawn attention with its Middle Corridor operations, China–Türkiye reciprocal block train services, and integrated logistics solutions across the Europe–Asia route. Continuing its efforts to position Türkiye at the center of the Eurasian logistics network, Pasifik Eurasia remains committed to delivering critical projects in both import and export transportation.
